Simple Surgery-Free Tips For Cellulite Reduction: Set A Plan And Stick To It

By Abbie Cheung

Cellulite is fat that is caught between bands of connective tissue. The fatty deposits underneath the skin create the appearance of the bumps and ridges we know as cellulite.

It is difficult to get rid of, but it's not impossible. Every woman can reduce the appearance of cellulite if she gets on and sticks to a cellulite reduction program.

Sometimes it's hard to stick to a program, but if you're organized and have a clear plan, then you have the tools to get started. Follow these tips on a regular basis as part of your cellulite reduction program.

1. Regular exercise, especially cardiovascular. Cardiovascular exercise fights cellulite by increasing circulation and reducing fat. This kind of exercise really works your heart and will also benefit your overall health. A couple times a week, do two ten-minute sets of cardio. Increase the number of days as you get stronger. Use your breathing to monitor the intensity of your workout. You want to be able to talk in regular conversation but not to sing.

2. Find one thing in your diet that you will cut out or substitute with a lower or no calorie substitution. Here are some examples: diet soda or water for regular soda, non-caloric butter spray for butter or margarine, mustard mixed with nonfat mayo instead of full fat mayo, carrot sticks instead of potato chips. Once you're comfortable with your diet swap, you can add in another.

3. Consider some non-invasive cellulite reduction treatment choices. Based on your budget and what works for you, you could go with a cellulite cream or massage, or a more extensive procedure like Endermologie or Velasmooth. If you can afford it, Velasmooth is a good option to look into because it is the first cellulite treatment approved by the FDA.

4. Use your head. Visualization techniques are surprisingly effective at helping people reach their goals. Visualizing your smooth cellulite-free body is no exception. Focus on the picture by making sure you're relaxed. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Or if you prefer, visualize the steps of your cellulite reduction program. Clearly see yourself doing the cardio and eating well, and you are more likely to stick with your plan, which will lead to reduced cellulite.

If you stay with your program diligently and regularly, you should see a marked improvement in the appearance of your cellulite-affected areas.
