A Frank Assessment Of Yeast Infections

A Frank Assessment Of Yeast Infections

by Barbara Andrews

Yeast infections can affect men or women, even though they are overwhelmingly restricted to females. The most ordinary aspect of this is thrush. Being non gender specific, they just attack certain areas of the body.

Yeast infections are irritations restricted distinctly to the skin or mucous-like membrane, caused in humans by a type of fungi called Candida. It looks whitish and curd like in the laboratory. One of its most well-known genotype is Candida albicans, though it must be noted that Candida albicans is not the only species that causes yeast infections in human beings.

Usually candida is held under control in a healthy human body by other bacteria present. It makes its dwelling inside the darksome, intimate, wet areas of the body. This is why yeast infections are found in areas such as the mouth, the ears, blood, the gastrointestinal or "gut" area - and yes, the area "down there." However, it also likes human skin, particularly moist, warm sections which like skin folds and armpits.

Yeast affliction is also known as candidiasis because of the yeast cells that make it up. When in yeast form, it duplicates itself through budding. All this means is that each cell will make 'clones' of themselves, and they will blossom out of the parent cell. Before becoming free from the parent cells, these buds will stay attached for some time.

So what really causes yeast infection? First of all the when the body is in a state of balance all the different strains of bacteria living in the body grow normally, but when the environment changes the yeast can grow uncontrollably.

Candida albicans fungi mark their territories during this population buildup by causing any of these sensations: itching, burning, tingling and soreness. Sometimes, two of these sensations can be felt at once.it is a bad idea to scratch the afflicted areas, since this act would aggravate the overgrowth of the fungi.

Other signs include constipation, drowsiness, muscle aches, aching or swelling in the joints, dizziness, fluid retention, tissue swelling, loss of balance, lack of coordination, lack of concentration, poor memory, mood swings, depression, nausea, irritability, and cravings for sugars, alcohol and carbs. These symptoms can be from other illnesses as well so other more reliable indications must be taken into account too.

The overgrowth also causes particular side-effects in afflicted places. To assign a few, yeast infections establish white-or cream-colored patches inside the mouth, reaching as far as the soft palate. They induce digestion problems and make even bowel movement hard. Afflicted penises have patchy sores near the head or on the foreskin. Candidiasis is also accountable for discharges from the ear, the bowels (in the stool) and the genitalia.

Yeast illnesss can cause considerable, sometimes even disastrous, diseases. This is all the more true for sufferers with deteriorated or underdeveloped immune systems, diabetes, the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The good thing is with proper identification and treatment, those afflicted with this problem can get quick relief.
