A new Aussie film that was recently released based on a very well-liked book for teenagers. The Tomorrow When the War Began movie is based on a novel of the same name by popular Australian novelist John Marsden and it has done very well since its release.
John Marsden, an educator who currently runs his own school in Victoria Australia, wound up crafting books because he was troubled by the lack of enthusiasm his teenage pupils expressed in reading.
He definitely transformed that situation around when the first book in the series was introduced. In actuality his novel was so highly thought of that it grew to be part of the English syllabus in Australian high schools and has been known to transform a young person who had no interest in reading into an avid reader - at least when it comes to reading his series of the Tomorrow books.
Now the original book of the series is a successful movie and film buffs of various age groups are queuing up to see it. It's the account of seven teenagers who go camping in the Australian bush and return back from their venture to find their homes abandoned and their loved ones disappeared.
They then go into town to try to discover what is going on and find out that their town was occupied by an unknown enemy force while they were back on their camping holiday. The group do whatever they can to prevent capture by the enemy troops and choose to devise a plan to lessen the enemy's stronghold on the town.
It's an exciting adventure flick that's got you sitting on the edge of your seat in some scenes. The movie also shows the way each personality stretches and develops in the tough situation they discover themselves in. It looks at the uncertainties each teen faces in coming to terms with what has happened to their town and their loved ones who are being detained by force at the community showground. Troops of soldiers patrol the streets so they must be vigilant in order to prevent getting imprisoned themselves.
Filming took place in Australia at a few of the unspoiled wilderness zones of the Hunter Valley and Blue Mountain areas, and the action scenes were filmed mainly at the Fox Studios in Sydney.
